e-clearing.net - the European roaming platform for e-mobility - announces historic milestones in market growth at this year's general meeting. The launch of the new platform and many new and innovative features were also announced.
Aachen. Last Thursday, e-clearing.net partners from all over Europe met for the annual member event. Due to the special circumstances, the event was held in an online format, but this was by no means the only innovation.
It was the first event of its kind since e-clearing.net GmbH was founded at the beginning of August this year. For the first time this year, over 100,000 charging points are available for roaming partners to network and the number of active e-mobilists on the platform was over 1.1 million, measured by identification features.
Thanks to intensive use by partners, the platform has processed more than 3.3 million transactions this year, with a visible slump at the beginning of the year due to the pandemic restrictions.
Moritz Dickehage from e-clearing.net explains: "Despite the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus, we are optimistic that we will still reach 4 million transactions by the end of the year. This would correspond to an increase of around 100% compared to the previous year.
Electrifying innovations
The new IT system behind e-clearing.net, called eCHS 2.0, is currently available for public alpha testing for both OCHP and OCPI partners.
The new platform is expected to go live in the first quarter of next year, with the new protocol versions OCHP 1.5 and OCPI 2.2 to be implemented in the following quarter.
In addition to the technical developments, the team announced a new standardised contract model that enables quick and easy setup of roaming connections via the platform with standardised terms and conditions. Expand your network with a simple push of a button!
e-clearing.net
e-clearing.net, an initiative of smartlab Innovationsgesellschaft and the Dutch foundation ElaadNL, is an open B2B platform that enables cross-border interoperability for charging electric vehicles. Electromobility market participants can use the European data hub to exchange all relevant data required for user authentication, billing of the electricity supplied and live information. This opens up uncomplicated roaming at home and abroad for electric mobility users. The aim of e-clearing.net is to provide unhindered, cross-network access to the entire charging infrastructure.
The data is exchanged via the open interface of the IT system, the freely accessible OCHP (Open Clearing House Protocol). The OCHP protocol is free of property rights and fees and can therefore be used by any market participant for data exchange. The OCPI protocol has also been used since 2016.
e-clearing.net is based on an open market model, which means that there is no obligation to contract between the connected participants. The market participants are free to choose their partners with whom they conclude bilateral roaming contracts. The operators of e-clearing.net provide sample contracts for this purpose. The platform is an open system; all market partners are invited to participate in e-clearing.net.
