New billing solution to support e-mobility: Aareal Bank cooperates with platform provider smartlab
Wiesbaden/Aachen. As part of a partnership with smartlab Innovationsgesellschaft mbH, Aareal Bank AG has developed an automated settlement procedure that is being used for the first time in the field of e-mobility: The Aareal Connected Payments solution facilitates the settlement management of complex payment flows between different partners, so-called multi-party payments, on a shared platform, thus supporting the progress of e-mobility in Germany.
Simplified billing management
The innovative billing solution will initially be piloted on the ladenetz.de platform, on which smartlab networks more than 220 municipal utilities as providers of charging stations. The platform makes it possible for owners of electric cars to charge their vehicles at the charging stations of participating municipal utilities across Germany with just one charging card. This is convenient for users as it simplifies charging processes and billing. The platform solution also brings considerable benefits for the municipal utilities: the settlement of charging processes and payments between the different municipal utilities is considerably simplified. "By cooperating with smartlab, we can contribute our expertise in IT-based, small-scale mass payment transactions and apply it to a new and promising growth area," says Lars Ernst, Managing Director of Aareal Bank, adding: "In this way, we are enabling the progress of e-mobility in Germany."
More efficient customer processes
Aareal Connected Payments enables automated settlement management of third-party charging processes in the charging network: instead of processing each transaction individually and bilaterally, the solution consolidates payment flows to a minimum - all individual settlements are bundled per billing cycle and automatically settled via Aareal Bank as the payment service provider. The municipal utilities receive individual electronic invoices that also take account of special tax features, thus ensuring full transparency of all transactions in the payment process. The previously enormous billing effort between the municipal utilities is reduced to a minimum.
"We are delighted to be able to enter into a forward-looking partnership with Aareal Bank, thanks to which we will be able to make customer processes much more efficient. For the customer, there is minimal effort at minimal cost and we have more room for our core competence - the development of services relating to electromobility for municipal utilities and business partners," says smartlab Managing Director Dr Mark Steffen Walcher.
Adaptation to other platform models
Aareal Bank plans to extend what is already possible in the field of e-mobility to other application scenarios. Holger Spielberg, Group Technology Officer at Aareal Bank, explains: "With the Aareal Connected Payments platform solution, we are entering a highly interesting new business area and have the right partner at our side in smartlab.
In the future, the solution can also be adapted to the needs of other platform models in other sectors. We are at the beginning of an exciting development."
